Qualifications

Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography)
Basic Requirements:
Pursuant to Public Law 97-35, those who perform radiologic procedures must meet the certification standards in 42 CFR Part 75. This includes:
1. Successful completion of an accredited educational program that meets or exceeds established standards, and
2. Certification as a radiographer.
Individuals who meet these requirements may qualify by meeting the following requirements:
1. Proof of certification for those who worked as a radiologic worker under the federal government prior to January 13, 1986.
2. Proof of education and experience required for certification for those first employed as a radiologic worker after 1986.
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience that includes performing diagnostic CT exams/procedures, administering contrast for CT exams, and maintaining proper equipment.
OR
Education: Master’s degree or equivalent, or 2 years of graduate-level education related to diagnostic radiology/radiography.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, as long as the required percentage totals 100%.
Foreign Education:
If you qualify using foreign education, you must demonstrate that that education was evaluated by an accredited agency and is equivalent to a U.S. education.
Additional Information:
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must provide a certificate of Selective Service Registration.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship is required.
- If a candidate is selected for a permanent, tenured, or supervisory position, there may be a one-year trial/probationary period.
- Salary may be negotiable for new hires in the Federal Service.
